In this post, I have shared a beginner’s guide for GOOD SMILE COMPANY, Inc.’s mobile game, Ramen Akaneko.
Ramen Akaneko: The Basics
Ramen Akaneko is an idle game where you get to run a ramen restaurant. Unlike standard restaurant idle games, here, you work with the cats of Ramen Akaneko and run the restaurant. During the day (in-game), customers will visit your restaurant, and the cats on duty will serve them ramen and make you money. Save money, upgrade facilities, level up shop, and unlock new seats and decorations to set up a perfect Ramen Akaneko.
The Game Progression
The day and night cycle – during the day, the cats will automatically start working, and you don’t have to do anything – from making dishes to serving them to customers- everything is automatic. The day lasts about 10 minutes, and the cycle shifts to nighttime. During the nighttime, you can upgrade the facilities like the boiler, register, machine, counter, etc., with the coins you earn from selling ramen. Upgrading the facilities will increase earnings and help you reach the next shop level. As you increase shop level, new seats and functions unlock.
Guide To Cats
Cats don’t have any abilities or specialties – but you can interact with them or change their costumes. You can get new costumes by completing the missions and from the event shop. You can brush them and gain affinity points – when the affinity level rises, the game unlocks new brush spots and items. Tap the big cat button at the bottom-center of the game screen to open the cat info screen. Tap on the cat avatar with the search icon in the top-right to see the cat in the shop. Next to the cat avatar, you can see the current affinity level, costume change button, and brush button. Tap the costume button to head to the clothing menu – you can change the costume there.
Tap the brush button to move to the brush screen, where you can brush the cat. Cats have sweet spots – brush them there for more affinity points.
Brushing & Affinity Points
You gain more affinity points when you use the right kind of brush (each cat has its preference). By using the right brush, the affinity gauge increases by a lot. Brushing them at their sweet spots, too, yields more affinity points. Tap the little search icon in the top-right corner of the cat avatar(Cat button at the bottom -> search icon over cat’s avatar) to see the cat’s profile (likes, dislikes, favorite brush, etc.). If you have details on the favorite brush and sweet spots, please share them in the comments.

Play Mini-Games
Tap the Minigames option on the staff room (left side). You will receive rewards when you hit the milestone score.
Participate In The Events
Event banners are showcased on the top-right side. When writing this guide, a Christmas event is going on where you get to play minigames (Jigsaw Puzzle, Feline Flash). Participate in the event tasks or games to earn rewards. Also, during this event, you will see “Christmas Bell” icons/bubbles(like LIKES bubbles) appearing inside the shop – collect them and get event points. You will fetch the rewards based on your event rankings. Additionally, the event shop offers exclusive cat costumes.
Complete The Missions
Complete the missions to earn gems or diamonds. You can use this premium currency to shop for costumes in the event shop or spend on decor gacha, or buy brush/brushing tickets/gacha tickets/clothing. Each time you spend on the gacha banner, you gain gacha points, which can be exchanged at the gacha shop.
