All Runes in Broken Blade & How to Get Them
Runes are powerful upgrades in Broken Blade that add special effects to your attacks or provide passive combat bonuses. Some runes can be purchased directly from the Greedy Shop using Boss Coins, while others are obtained as rare drops from endgame content. Choosing the right rune can significantly improve your damage output and make boss farming much easier.
Souls Bomb Rune
- Effect: Has a chance to summon three Soul Bombs whenever you land a hit.
- Damage Output:
- Each bomb deals damage equal to 50% of your M1 attack.
- Cost: 1,000 Boss Coins from the Greedy Shop.
Hell Fire Rune
- Effect: Can trigger a fiery explosion around enemies when attacking.
- Damage Output:
- Deals 1.8x M1 damage.
- Can hit multiple enemies caught in the explosion.
- Cost: 1,200 Boss Coins from the Greedy Shop.
Thunder Rune
- Effect: Occasionally calls down a lightning strike during combat.
- Damage Output:
- Deals 2x M1 damage.
- Cost: 1,400 Boss Coins from the Greedy Shop.
Blizzard Rune
- Effect: Creates an icy aura around enemies after a successful hit.
- Damage Output:
- Deals M1 damage every second.
- Lasts for 5 seconds.
- Cost: 1,600 Boss Coins from the Greedy Shop.
Shadow Clone Rune
- Effect: Has a chance to summon two shadow clones to fight beside you.
- Damage Output:
- Each clone deals 3x M1 damage.
- Cost: 1,800 Boss Coins from the Greedy Shop.
Crit Rune
- Effect: Permanently increases both Critical Chance and Critical Damage.
- Damage Output:
- Does not have an attack-triggered effect.
- Provides passive stat boosts instead.
- Cannot be purchased from the Greedy Shop.
How to Get Runes in Broken Blade
There are currently two main ways to obtain runes. The easiest and most reliable method is buying them from the Greedy Shop, while the second method involves farming rare drops from the Sky Spire Dungeon.
Greedy Shop
The Greedy Shop is located inside the Colosseum on Nidavellir Island. After teleporting to Nidavellir, head into the Colosseum and you will find the shop NPC selling runes in exchange for Boss Coins.
- Souls Bomb Rune – 1,000 Boss Coins
- Hell Fire Rune – 1,200 Boss Coins
- Thunder Rune – 1,400 Boss Coins
- Blizzard Rune – 1,600 Boss Coins
- Shadow Clone Rune – 1,800 Boss Coins
This method is recommended if you are targeting a specific rune since it removes the randomness of boss drops.
Sky Spire Dungeon
The Sky Spire Dungeon is found in Jotunheim and contains several bosses that can drop runes as rare rewards. While this method can save Boss Coins, rune drop rates are generally low, so expect a significant amount of grinding.
- Runes can drop from dungeon bosses as rare loot.
- Drop rates are not guaranteed and depend heavily on luck.
- The Crit Rune is exclusive to this dungeon.
- The Crit Rune specifically drops from the boss encountered between Layers 80 and 90.
Important Note About the Crit Rune: The Crit Rune cannot be purchased from the Greedy Shop, traded with other players, or obtained through any other source. If you want this rune, you must farm the Sky Spire Dungeon and reach the Layer 80-90 boss.
How to Get Boss Coins
Boss Coins are used to purchase runes from the Greedy Shop. They are primarily earned by defeating summoned raid bosses. To summon these encounters, you will need Boss Keys.
- Boss Keys are required to start raid bosses.
- Different bosses and difficulties consume different amounts of keys.
- Higher difficulties generally reward more Boss Coins.
- Regular raid farming is the fastest way to build a large coin supply.
How to Get Boss Keys
Boss Keys can drop from bosses across multiple islands in Broken Blade. There is no single boss dedicated to key farming, so simply defeating bosses regularly will gradually build up your stockpile.
- Can drop from bosses throughout the game.
- No dedicated farming location exists.
- Player trading is another option if you need keys quickly.
For most players, the best strategy is to farm bosses for keys, use those keys to run raids, earn Boss Coins, and then purchase the exact rune you want from the Greedy Shop. The only exception is the Crit Rune, which remains an exclusive reward from the Sky Spire Dungeon.
