Mutations are one of the best ways to increase your fish’s earning potential in Be a Fish Bait. Every fish you catch has a chance to roll a random mutation, with each one providing a different cash multiplier. While mutations are mostly RNG-based, there are several ways to improve your odds and even stack certain mutations together for much higher earnings.
Be a Fish Bait Mutations & Multipliers Guide
All Fish Mutations
- Gold
- Increases the fish’s earning rate by 1.5x.
- Diamond
- Increases the fish’s earning rate by 2x.
- Delulu
- Increases the fish’s earning rate by 2x.
- Can only be obtained during the Delulu weather event.
- Champion
- Increases the fish’s earning rate by 3x.
- Only appears on Boss Fish.
- Each Boss Fish has a 30% chance to become Champion Tier.
- Plasma
- Increases the fish’s earning rate by 4x.
- Glitched
- Increases the fish’s earning rate by 5x.
- Has an additional +10% chance to appear during the Glitched weather.
- Molten
- Increases the fish’s earning rate by 6x.
- Radioactive
- Increases the fish’s earning rate by 8x.
- Currently offers the highest base multiplier.
How to Get More Mutated Fish
- Equip Auras that increase Mutation Luck, such as Yinyang and Voidspore.
- Fish during the Glitched weather event for an additional 10% chance to catch Glitched fish.
- Fish during the Delulu weather event for a chance to obtain the Delulu mutation.
- Press the quick-time pop-up buttons that appear after casting your line to increase your chances of obtaining specific mutations.
- Catch Boss Fish to have a 30% chance of obtaining the Champion Tier.
Can Fish Have Multiple Mutations?
Yes, but only under certain rules. Mutations are divided into two different categories.
Normal Mutations
- Gold
- Diamond
- Plasma
- Glitched
- Molten
- Radioactive
Special Mutations
- Delulu
- Champion
A fish can only have one Normal Mutation, but it can also gain both of the Special Mutations at the same time. This means a single fish can have:
- One Normal Mutation.
- The Delulu mutation.
- The Champion Tier.
For example, if you catch a Boss Fish with the Diamond mutation during the Delulu weather, it can end up with:
- Diamond + Delulu + Champion.
However, it is not possible to combine multiple Normal Mutations such as Diamond + Molten or Plasma + Radioactive.
Champion Tier Explained
Many players confuse the Champion Tier with a regular mutation, but they work differently.
- Normal Mutations provide your fish with its base cash multiplier.
- Champion is a separate bonus that only Boss Fish can receive.
- Champion has a 30% chance to appear whenever you catch a Boss Fish.
- Instead of replacing the existing mutation, Champion multiplies the fish’s earnings even further.
Example
- Diamond Fish: $2.20M per second.
- Diamond + Champion Fish: $2.20M/s × Champion multiplier = $2.36M/s.
Since Champion stacks with existing mutations, Boss Fish with powerful normal mutations become some of the highest-earning fish you can obtain.
