How to grow crops in Heartopia
To grow the crops, you will need to buy the crop seeds from the Gardening Store. Head to Blanc, the Gardening Mentor(Open the map -> Blanc -> Track). Interact with him, then select the gardening store option.
From the gardening store, you can buy the crop seeds in exchange for gold coins. Currently, these are the crops that you can grow in your garden:

Grow the crops -> harvest -> earn gardening proficiency -> accumulate enough to upgrade the hobby level. As your gardening hobby level increases, the game unlocks new crops.

How to get more yield per harvest?
To trigger a bountiful harvest, I recommend watering the crops. For faster growth and higher yield, you can use fertilizers and growth boosters. You can buy the fertilizer and growth boosters from the Gardening Store (Blanc). Gardening Hobby level 2 unlocks fertilizer and growth booster.
Also, upgrade your DG level to increase the number of plots you can buy, and install additional planters to grow more crops simultaneously.
